Graduation from high school or currently enrolled as a full time senior in high school. Some experience in governmental or institutional recreation programs. Must possess a valid Florida Driver's License and have an acceptable driving record and maintain an acceptable driving record. On an incident by incident basis, the employee's Department Head will make the determination when the employee will be required to work and if they are re-assigned based on the needs of the City.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS\nCoordinates City sponsored programs and events for all age and sex groups; oversees activities of program participants and volunteers; performs First Aid on injured program participants or volunteers, seeks further medical assistance as necessary, and prepares injury reports.\nAssists in planning, organizing and promoting playoffs and tournaments for various leagues and sports; assists in planning, organizing and promoting special events such as the Easter Egg Hunt, Halloween Havoc, Santa's Workshop, etc.; composes and types letters; assists in seeking donations for special events; orders supplies; recruits volunteers, etc.\nAssists in preparing and supervising use of Community Center, athletic fields, playground, basketball courts, and other recreational facilities.\nAnswers telephones, receiving inquiries and providing information based on considerable knowledge of recreation program activities, events, policies, and procedures; prepares and sorts flyers for various activities such as classes, leagues and special events; receives and record requests to reserve use of Parks and Recreation facilities; records and relays other messages.\nReceives fees for participation in recreation program events, use of facilities, etc., and records receipts.\nPrepares requisitions and purchase orders for necessary supplies, materials and equipment, and submits to supervisor; travels to obtain supplies, as necessary; stores supplies and materials in designated areas.\nOpens building at start of business day; secures building and activates outside lights and alarm system at end of business day.\nSupervises activities of volunteers and community service workers assigned to Parks & Recreation Department.\nADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS\nMay plan, coordinate and instruct classes in various arts and crafts, as qualifications allow.\nMay fill in for the Park Ranger during vacations, emergency situations or vacancies.\nCleans and performs minor maintenance at the Community Center, Parks, ballfields, basketball courts and other recreation facilities; such as sweeping, mopping, empty trash receptacles and pick up debris, etc.; arranges activity rooms for various meetings as needed.\nPerforms other related work as required.\nThe listed duties are only illustrative and are not intended to describe every function that may be performed by this job class.
